Thank you to everyone that has contributed to Kids Kan. We are so close to our goal of 6,500! So far, we have collected 6,095 cans to benefit the Mid South Food Bank, so we will extend our collection one extra day to Monday, February 12. Please send in any extra cans or cash on Monday morning ($1 = 3 canned goods.) Thank you!
Springfest 2018: Save the Date
Saturday, April 7
Save the date for Springfest 2018: Saturday, April 7 from 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. You won't want to miss this day of family fun featuring games, a silent auction, food, bounce houses and more! And all of the proceeds support Dogwood's PTO. If you are interested in helping with Springfest, please contact Tiffany Smith or Maura Parks.
Health Room Volunteers Needed!
Calling all parents! We need daily help from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. staffing the parent health room (located in the bookstore). You will be dealing with minor issues like band-aids and ice packs. No medical experience necessary! This will really help Nurse Maddie and alleviate some of the traffic through her clinic. If everyone takes a date, we will have no problem staffing for the whole year. Thank you so much!
Dogwood Track registration is now open online. You can register your child at this link. Instructions on how to register are included in the below flyer. The deadline for track registration is February 18, which is the same day we will have our first official practice. Our track uniform will be the same as our cross country uniform so they do not have to order another one unless they need a different size or would like an extra one. The shorts, hoodie and short sleeve tech shirts that can also be ordered are also the same design as last cross country and track season. We are a laid back team so no worries if your child can't make a number of practices or will have to miss some meets.
This year's tentative Track Meet Schedule is below:
We are just $5,000 away from reaching our Jump Rope for Heart goal! Increase your online donations by $50 or more over the weekend and you will receive a monster bag and basketball (and a chance to win a scare squad action camera!) Please also be sure to turn in all cash and check donations by February 15, and don't forget to see if your company will match your donation!

The Dogwood community is the best!! There are so many people who serve our students, teachers and families so well that we would like to recognize them more publicly throughout the year. If you have a shout out for a student, teacher, parent or administrator any time throughout the year, please email it to Alison Fondaw.
Shout outs and special thanks to:
- Mrs. Dancy for being selected as News Channel 3 Educator of the Week!
- Chris Linville for coordinating Kids Kan, and to Ms. Fitchpatrick, the Student Ambassadors, Alison Fondaw, Robin Pleasants, Chelsea Slaubaugh, Carmen Henson & Chrissy Tashie for collecting and counting our cans each morning.
